About the University
Admiralty University of Nigeria emerged out of the imaginative thinking and strategic vision of some Nigerian Navy icons who envisioned a stable and developed Nigeria as best actualized through the civil-military relationship. Under the ownership of the Nigerian Navy, the University secured the National Universities Commission’s operational license in 2017 and in 2019, commenced academic activities. In 2021, the University started its transitioning process to a Federal University and in February 2023, transited to a conventional Federal University via a Presidential assent on the Admiralty University Established Act 2022. Today, the Nigerian Navy remains the founder of the University and is fully integrated into the administrative and academic governance of the institution.
